Garden Word Search: 15 Free Large Print Puzzles

Free printable PDF · Updated July 2026

Fifteen garden-themed word search puzzles in honest 20-point print — from the flower bed to the greenhouse to a firefly evening on the patio.

If you've ever downloaded a "large print" puzzle that came out of the printer looking like the fine print on a receipt, this pack is for you. Every page here follows one rule: you should never have to squint. The grids use big 20-point letters, each puzzle gets a full page, and all 270 hidden words are friendly, everyday garden words.

One more kindness for comfortable solving: words never run backwards. Across, down, or diagonally — always reading forward.

Who this pack is for

We made these puzzles for people who love word searches but are tired of tiny type: folks solving at the kitchen table with morning coffee, adult children printing a batch for a parent, and anyone who finds standard puzzle books harder on the eyes than they used to be.

If you run activities at a senior center or residence, help yourself: you're welcome to photocopy the puzzles for your group. The pages are single-sided-friendly with wide margins, so they stack, punch, and clip neatly. Garden themes are easy conversation starters, too — everyone has a tomato story.

Printing tip: in your print window, choose Actual size (100%) instead of "Fit to page." That one setting is the difference between real large print and accidentally shrunken letters. More in our printing guide.

What "large print" means here

Large print is commonly defined as 18-point type or bigger. Plenty of puzzles sold or shared as "large print" quietly sit below that. Ours don't: every grid letter in this pack is 20 point, the word lists are 14 point, and there's clear space between rows so a circled word doesn't swallow its neighbors. That's the whole reason this site exists — and it's the same standard in our 1950s Nostalgia pack.

Frequently asked questions

Is the garden word search download really free?

Yes — click the download button and the PDF saves to your computer. No email address, no account, nothing to cancel later. Print as many copies as you like.

How big is the print, exactly?

Grid letters are 20 point — above the 18-point size commonly cited as the threshold for large print. Word lists are printed at 14 point, and every puzzle has a full Letter page to itself.

Are the puzzles hard?

They're pleasantly relaxed. The words are everyday garden words, and every word reads forward — across, down, or diagonally, never backwards. Longer words like PHILODENDRON add just enough challenge.

Can I photocopy pages for my activity group?

Yes. Senior centers, activity programs, libraries, and church groups are welcome to photocopy the puzzles. Please don't resell the pack or upload the file to another website — link people here instead.

Will there be more garden puzzles?

Very likely — gardens follow the seasons, and so do our packs. New themed packs are added to the home page regularly.
